Month of May Successful So Far

May 5 I spoke at Franklin-Carlisle-Springboro Rotary Club meeting and sold nine copies of My Lost Summer. After the meeting at the Methodist church on Main Street, I walked next door to visit my insurance man, who I’ve known since I was young; he was a year ahead of me in school, grew up in Franklin. He bought a copy too.

My boss, who works in a different office, bought one the following week.

Saturday, May 13 I had a signing at the local Kroger store from 10:30 to 1 pm. I was unsure how sales would go considering people usually don’t go to the grocery to buy books, yet I sold 11 copies! And earlier that morning I went to the local community college to buy a composter. The line was quite long so I took the opportunity to pitch my book to the masses. The man behind me was the only one to buy. I think if I’d have remembered to remind people that Mother’s Day was the next day, I might have had more interest. But, alas, I didn’t mention anything; I forgot. However, the man behind me seemed quite pleased with his purchase. Even gave me his card.

So far I've sold 24 copies in the month of May.

Yesterday I called the local Kroger to schedule future signings. I’m set up for August 5 and November 18—the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I also called another Kroger to arrange a signing for June.

Tonight I present at a church in Carlisle. It’s open to the community though I do not think it got much advertising so I’m not expecting much of a turnout. Saturday I’m signing at the Barnes & Noble in Florence, Kentucky. I’ve sent e-mails announcing that one. I hope to sell at least 12 books in two hours. Overall, May has been profitable.
